Milk Glass

In my work I like to capture a sense of movement and freeze it. I hope that all the pieces I make mean something to you, reminding you of a place or feeling you love.

But what if they could hold a physical link to a time in your life, suspended forever in glass, like a fossil in stone.

Milk glass can hold an element of something precious to you. The last milk from your family farm or your own breast milk, I can encase it within glass without needing to add any preservatives. The milk is visible in clear glass as white specks, appearing to sparkle, or I can wrap the milk into any glass colour to be made into a design that speaks to you. If you would like a piece of glass jewellery, or a keepsake with milk included please contact me to discuss the design. See the pricing and FAQ section below to find out how to make an order.

I can include a small addition of hair, or nails within the

mandrel hole of a bead, if it is set with a wrapped silver bezel, these won't be visible, but you'll know they're there.

Prices and FAQ's

Due to the nature of this bespoke glass service I can't accept orders from outside the UK.

As they do for my memorial glass, prices vary depending on what you would like me to make, and include consultation time to talk through a design you're happy with.

As a guide simple plain beads start at £40 for one and £5 for each additional bead made using the same glass.

Miniature jars are up to 35mm tall and start at £50 each, these would cost an additional £50 to bezel set the lid in silver for a pendant.

Small double sided bezel set glass beads start at £100 each with no charge for any additional inclusions in the mandrel hole.

Large spinning pendants set in a silver frame start at £250, with the option to add an engraving on the silver frame for extra.

You can send me the milk in your own packaging, or request a packaging kit form me as part of your order, this will be an additional £10 which includes postage to and from me. If you choose to use your own packaging I recommend a standard breastmilk storage bag with the sample sealed inside, folded into a second storage bag for additional security. This should fit within a UK large letter price point.

I can use milk that has been frozen, but I recommend defrosting it before sending to ensure condensation doesn’t affect the packaging.
If you are taking a small milk sample from a larger quantity of stored milk please shake the whole amount well before you pour out the small amount I need, this will keep all the properties of the milk in the sample, ensuring I have enough matter that will withstand the high temperatures used in the glassmaking process.

Please contact me if you are interested in milk glass, as this is a bespoke service with many possibilities I haven't got a product available to buy on my website, but once we have discussed the design that's right for you I will create a personal item for you to buy through the website.

If you would like a gift voucher for some milk glass please contact me, I am in the process of updating my website to include this facility, but I haven't learned how just yet!
